Task-performing Police Officers'Combat-oriented Tactics in Prevention and Control against Abrupt Assaults Perpetrated with Short Knives
In recent years, the emergence of violent assaults involving sharp weapons has emerged as a significant factor contributing to group casualties among front-line police officers. Moreover, encounters with abrupt assaults perpetrated with short knives during law-enforcement activities have remained the leading cause for task-performing police officers'fatal and non-fatal injuries. This paper analyzes the characteristics and categories of abrupt assaults perpetrated with short knives that police officers often encounter while performing their duties, exploring relevant prevention and control tactics can be adopted in such emergent situations.Subsequently,it is proposed that the combat-oriented tactics for police officers to deal with such assaults should be developed from three aspects:tactical concepts regarding the prevention and control of such abrupt assaults, the composition of the preventive and responsive skills required in such emergencies, and the common tactics for prevention and control that should be implemented.
