Investigation of Ectoparasites on Body Surface of Eothenomys miletus in Some Places of Guizhou
To understand the infestation and related biological issues of ectoparasites on the body surface of E.miletus in some places of Guizhou,an investigation was conducted on E.miletus captured in five counties from July to August in 2013,including Duyun,Longli,Guiyang,Anshun and Zhijin. Results:A total of 185 individuals were captured from the five counties of Guizhou.Of these 185 voles, 175 were infested with ectoparasites and the infestation rate reached 94.6%.A total of 62 ectoparasite species, including 17 species of chigger mites,33 species of gamasid mites, three species of sucking lice and nine species of fleas were collected from E.miletus.Leptotrombidium densipunctatum (38.3%),Laelaps chini (93.3%),Hoplopleura edentula (96.3%)and Ctenophthalmus axiproj ectus (35.0%)were the most predominant species of chigger mites, gamasid mites, sucking lice and fleas, respectively.Species number and individuals of three categories of ectoparasites(chigger mites ,sucking lice and fleas )had no significant difference between the male and female hosts(E.miletus).The gamasid mites infestation rate(97.96%), species number(30 species)and individuals(2 339 individuals)on the male host voles were significantly higher than that of the females(P < 0.05).Correlation analysis showed that a slightly negative linear correlation coexists between the chigger mite infestation(species number and individuals )and the body weight of the host voles. The coefficients(r)of linear correlation between the infestation(parasite species and individuals)and the body weight of the hosts had no statistical significance in gamasid mites, sucking lice and fleas.
