Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Hybrid Waxy Corn in Different Harvesting Time
Effects of waxy corn Jingkenuo 2000,Jingzinuo 218 and Jingkenuo928 (waxy and sweet)with different seed maturation degree on seed germination and seedling growth were studied,in order to determine the suitable harvesting time.The results showed that variety,harvesting time both had significant effects on seed germination potential,germination rate,vigour index,growth potential,amount of dry matter,and cold resistance.Generally all the index above showed increase firstly and then decreased in 20～55 days after pollination(DAP).Seed vigour index and growth index both reached a maximun level when harvested 40～50DAP for Jingkenuo 2000,45DAP for Jingkenuo 928 and 50DAP for Jingzinuo 218,which were the suitable harvesing time.Relatively,germination rate of seeds on suitable harvesing time was Jingkenuo 928 (98.67％) ＞Jingkenuo 2000 (94％) ＞Jingzinuo 218 (92.33％).Cold resistance among three varieties showed Jingkenuo 928＞Jingkenuo 2000＞Jingzinuo 218.
