Study on Feed Efficiency of Bombyx mori at 5th Instar Reared with Artificial Feed
[Objective]The differences in feed efficiency of 5th-instar silkworms reared with artificial feed and silkworms reared with mulberry leaves during 1st-5th instar were explored, which provided the technical support for the improvement of artificial feed and optimization of reared techniques for Bombyx mori.[Method]Taking the silkworms raised with mulberry leaves during 1st-5th instar as CK,the differences in feed efficiency of 5th instar silkworms fed with different patterns[artificial feed during 1st-5th instar(5th instar artificial feed),artificial feed during 1st-4th instar and mulberry leaves during 5th instar(5th instar mulberry leaves)]were studied.[Result]The weight increment of 5th-instar artificial fed silkworms were higher than CK on day 3,day 4 and day 5,and the digestion was lower than CK on day 2,day 3,day 4 and day 6,and the physical conversion rate was higher than CK on day 2,day 3,day 4 and day 5.The whole cocoon conversion efficiency, whole cocoon production efficiency, cocoon layer conversion efficiency and cocoon layer production efficiency of 5th-instar silkworms reared with artificial feed and mulberry leaves were lower than CK,5th-instar artificial fed silkworms were 0.53 percent points,0.10 percent points,0.25 percent points, and 0.08 percent points lower than CK,respectively, while silkworms fed with mulberry leaves at 5th instar were 0.38 percent points,0.14 percent points,0.14 percent points and 0.06 percent points lower than CK,respectively.Comparing with silkworm fed with mulberry leaves at 5th instar, the whole cocoon production efficiency of 5th-instar artificial fed silkworms increased by 0.04 percent points, while the whole cocoon conversion efficiency, cocoon layer conversion efficiency, and cocoon layer production efficiency decreased by 0.15 percent points,0.11 percent points and 0.02 percent points, respectively.[Conclusion]The feed efficiency of silkworms at 5th instar reared with artificial feed during 1st-5th is lower than that of silkworms raised on mulberry leaves during 1st-5th instar, and there is a certain difference in feed efficiency of 1st-5th instar silkworms between reared with artificial feed and mulberry leaves.
