Microplastics(<5 mm)is an emerging contaminants.Due to its migration, transformation, adsorption and degradation properties, microplastics poses a serious harm and potential risks to the ecological environment and human health.Nitrogen cycling plays a decisive role in biogeochemistry cycling, and its key process is mainly driven by microorganisms, and the existence of microplastics can influence the nitrogen cycling through affecting microbial population, abundance and type.In order of provide the reference for protecting the ecological environment of soil, reducing the harm of microplastics to agricultural production, the research progress on soil microplastics source and the effects of microplastics on soil enzyme activity, microorganism, nitrogen cycling and its related genes are reviewed. At the same time, the research directions of expanding microplastics types and particle size, and conducting concentration and long-term field experiments on multi-factor coupling of soil-microbial-plant are prospected.
