Effects of Water Retaining Agents on Water and Fertilizer Properties of Soil and Maize Yield
[Objective]The effects of water retaining agent on soil characteristics and maize yield were studied to provide references for improving fertilizer utilization efficiency and realizing high yield and high efficiency planting of maize.[Method]With taking non-fertilization and non-water retaining agent as CK,the field experiments were conducted to study the effects of no fertilization+water retaining agent(CKS),conventional fertilizer(CF,applying 133 kg/hm2 potassium chloride,165 kg/hm2 diammonium phosphate and 395 kg/hm2 uric acid),conventional fertilizer+water retaining agent(CFS,applying 25 kg/hm2 water retaining agent),fertilizer saving 10%(CF10)and fertilizer saving 10%+water retaining agent(CF10S)on soil basic fertility, water characteristics, agronomic traits and yield of maize.[Result]The soil pH under different treatments showed an increasing trend with maize growth, while the organic matter content showed a decreasing trend.Compared with CK,CF and CF10,the soil pH,water content, porosity and saturated water content under CKS,CF10S and CFS treatment at maturity stage increased, while soil organic matter content and bulk density decreased.Under the treatment of CKS,CF10S and CFS at maturity stage, the plant height and stem diameter were 217.63 cm and 242.34 cm,244.96 cm and 3.49 cm,4.01 cm and 4.07 cm,respectively, and the yield respectively increased by 7.41%,8.03%and 4.82%,respectively,compared to CK,CF and CF10.[Conclusion]Under the same fertilizer application amount, water retaining agent can improve soil basic fertility and soil structure,so as to promote maize growth and increase yield.
