Soil Physical and Chemical Properties of Walnut Orchards in Gravel Gobi Area and Its Effects on Walnut Yield and Quality
[Objective]The soil physical and chemical properties of walnut orchards in gravel gobi area and their effects on walnut yield and quality were investigated to provide scientific basis for soil improvement of walnut orchards and efficient cultivation of walnut in gravel gobi area.[Method]Taking the soil of walnut orchards in gravel gobi area as the research object, the soil mechanical composition,macro-and micro-elements and other physical and chemical properties and walnut yield were investigated and analyzed.By fitting the one-dimensional quadratic regression model of soil nutrient content, walnut quality and yield per plant, the effects of soil nutrient on walnut yield and quality were analyzed.[Result]In gravel gobi area, soil mechanical composition in each layer showed the pattern of the highest content of coarse sand and the lowest content of extremely fine sand.Nutrients such as hydrolyzable nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, available boron, available copper, available zinc, available iron, and available manganese in the soil were mainly distributed in the 0-40 cm soil layer, and the soil available nutrient content in gravel gobi area was generally at a low level. When the single fruit weight, transverse diameter, lateral diameter and longitudinal diameter of walnut in gravel gobi area reached the peak, the theoretical contents of required available potassium, available iron, available copper and hydrolyzed nitrogen were 105.00 mg/kg,4.51 mg/kg,0.31 mg/kg and 45.10 mg/kg,respectively.When the single yield per plant of walnut in gravel gobi area reached its peak, the theoretical content values of required hydrolyzable nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, available boron, available copper, available zinc, available iron and available manganese nutrients were 30.78 mg/kg,19.78 mg/kg,100.54 mg/kg,0.87 mg/kg,0.36 mg/kg,1.11 mg/kg,4.10 mg/kg and 4.98 mg/kg,respectively.The low soil available nutrients were the main reason for the low yield.[Conclusion]In gravel gobi area the overall available nutrients in the soil are at a low level. The main soil factors affecting walnut fruit quality are available potassium, available iron and available copper. The main soil factors affecting walnut yield are available phosphorus and available copper, respectively. The recommended fertilizer amount is 19.78 mg/kg available phosphorus,100.54 mg/kg available potassium,0.31 mg/kg available copper and 4.1 mg/kg available iron to achieve high yield and good quality of walnut in gravel gobi area.
