Under the backdrop of promoting the"southward expansion, westward extension, and eastward advancement"strategy for ice and snow sports, this study aims to assess the economic contributions of ski tourism development in southern China.Taking the S region of H province in the south as a case study, the Tourism Satellite Accounts(TSA)analysis method was employed to examine changes in total revenue, total output, industry tourism output share, and value-added in tourism following the development of ski tourism. The findings are as follows:(1)The development of ski tourism has attracted a large number of domestic tourists, significantly increasing the output value of the tourism industry in the S region and making tourism a core pillar industry there;(2)The development of ski tourism in southern China contributes to the growth of local tourism revenue, but it is advisable to maintain an appropriate number of ski resorts based on local conditions;(3)Ski tourism poses a risk of causing imbalances in the local industrial structure. In addition to fully leveraging the driving effect of ski tourism,it is necessary to optimize the structure of related industries according to the characteristics of ski tourism. Therefore, the current development of ski tourism in southern China will yield positive benefits, but it needs to address issues such as overexploitation, decline in long-term effects, and imbalance in industrial structure.
