Studying the spatial layout of primary and secondary education resources is of great significance for promoting the high-quality development of basic education in Hainan Free Trade Port and balanced development of compulsory edu-cation.This paper quantitatively analyzed the spatial layout of primary and secondary education resources in Hainan Island from the aspects of coverage, service efficiency, repetition, repetition efficiency and comprehensive evaluation. The results shows that:(1)the overall coverage of basic education resources in primary and secondary schools in Hainan Island is low,the overall spatial service efficiency is at the middle level, and there is no low efficiency area in Hainan Island, and high ef-ficiency towns/streets are mainly located along the coast and around the main roads;(2)the overall repeatability and repeti-tion rate of primary and secondary education resource service areas in Hainan Island is low,the towns/streets with medium repetition rate are mainly located in small towns with convenient transportation and relatively concentrated population, and high repetition rate towns/streets are located in high population density areas;(3)the number of towns/streets with good spa-tial distribution of basic education resources in primary and secondary schools in Hainan accounts for a large proportion, the towns/streets with excellent spatial distribution of primary education resources are mainly located in the north of"Wanning-Yangpu Express"with good traffic accessibility, and the excellent areas in the comprehensive evaluation of the spatial layout of secondary education resources are mainly concentrated in the northern main urban area of Haikou City, which has a large population density and well-developed transportation.Based on the research results, policy adjustment suggestions were provided.
