Progress in the relationship between vaginal microbiome and pergnancy outcomes in pregnant females
The vaginal microbiota of healthy women of reproductive age is characterized by a wide variety of microorganisms, with Lactobacilli being the predominant group.Lactobacilli play an important role in maintaining the balance of vaginal microbio-ta.When there is an imbalance in the acidity and alkalinity of the vagina,a structural disorder in the bacterial community,or a de-crease in local immune function, the balance of the vaginal microbiota is easily disrupted, and even vaginal infections occur. The disturbance of vaginal microbiota not only affects women's quality of life, but also has a correlation with adverse perinatal outcomes during pregnancy, affecting maternal and fetal health. Therefore, this article provides a comprehensive review of the research on the vaginal microbiota during pregnancy and its correlation with perinatal outcomes.
