Study on the Chemical Composition of Ethanol Extracts of Panax japonicus
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to comprehensively analyze the chemical constituents present in the dried rhizomes of Panax japonicus.METHODS The Ethanol Extracts was separated and purified by column chro-matography and liquid phase preparation and the isolated compounds were identified and their structures were eluci-dated through analysis of their physicochemical properties, nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry(MS)data.RESULTS A total of eleven saponin compounds were successfully isolated and iden-tified from the dried rhizomes of Panax japonicus. The structures and names of these compounds are as follows:Gin-senoside Re(1),Ginsenoside Rg1(2),Chikusetsusaponin V(3),24-(R)-Majoroside R1(4),Chikusetsusaponin Ⅳa(5),Chikusetsusaponin Ⅳa Methyl Ester(6),Chikusetsusaponin Ⅳ(7),Chikusetsusaponin Ⅳ Methyl Ester(8),Chikusetsusaponin Ⅰ(9),Calenduloside E(10),Chikusetsu-saponin IVa Ethyl Ester(11).CONCLUSION Com-pounds 4,10,and 11 were isolated for the first time from Panax Japonicus.
