Preparation of Nitrogen and Sulfur Co-doped Fluorescent Carbon Dots and Their Application in Iron Ion Detection Research
OBJECTIVE To establish a novel method for rapid detection of iron ions based on fluorescent car-bon dots.METHODS Nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots(NSCDs)were prepared using o-phenylenedia-mine and Na2 SO4 as precursors through a hydrothermal method. The morphology, surface functional groups and optical properties of carbon dots were characterized.Subsequently, the fluorescent carbon dot functionalized paper chip was prepared by immobilizing the carbon dots on filter paper and applied for visual fluorescence detection of iron i-ons.RESULTS Nitrogen and sulfur co-doped fluorescent carbon dots were successfully synthesized. The prepared carbon dots were utilized for the fluorescence determination of iron ions, exhibiting a good linear relationship in the concentration range of 1×10-3-20 mM(r2=0.9812)and a limit of detection of 0.066 μM.The recoveries from spiked serum samples ranged from 99%to 106%,with an RSD value less than 4%.Furthermore,the NSCDs func-tionalized paper chip enabled visual detection of iron ions.CONCLUSION The proposed method for visual fluores-cence detection of iron ions is simple, rapid, and exhibits good specificity, making it of significant reference value for the development of low-cost iron trace element detection methods.
