Investigation Report on the Self-medication Behavior of the Elderly in Pingliang City
OBJECTIVE By investigating the self medication status of elderly residents with chronic diseases in Pingliang City,this study aims to provide relevant medication strategies for the health department and strategies for safe medication for the elderly.METHODS Distribute the questionnaire in the form of on-site Q&A and explana-tion,and guide the elderly to fill it out.Use SPSS 25.0 to complete the data statistics.RESULTS A total of 830 questionnaires were distributed,and 693 valid questionnaires were collected,with a response rate of 81.52%.Through analysis,it can be concluded that,Among the elderly with chronic diseases in Pingliang City,the most com-mon one is hypertension,followed by coronary heart disease;Take medication(2.5±1.1)per day,with a maximum of 9 medications per day;47.1%of patients have a drug frequency ≥3/day;23.2%of patients have been taking medication for more than 10 years.The influencing factors of self medication include:Family monthly income,educa-tion level,registered residence type,etc;The higher the family income and education level,the more correct the self medication behavior,and the more accurate the registered residence registration for urban elderly medication behav-ior.CONCLUSION The proportion of correct self medication behavior of the elderly is relatively low,and the fami-ly economic situation,educational level and registered residence registration type have a greater impact on this behav-ior.Relevant government functional departments should pay attention to the medication behavior of rural,low-income,and lower educated elderly people.
