OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Jujube Kernel Calming Granules combined with ear acu-puncture on preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing class Ⅲ or Ⅳ major surgery.METHODS A total of 37 pa-tients were randomly assigned to the experimental group,35 patients to control group A,and 35 patients to control group B.Control group A received treatment with Jujube Kernel Calming Granules,control group B received treatment with ear acupuncture,and the experimental group received treatment with a combination of Jujube Kernel Calming Granules and ear acupuncture.Anxiety(S-AI)scores,as well as changes in preoperative sleep and blood pressure,were compared among the groups.RESULTS The anxiety level and sleep efficacy in the experimental group were significantly better than those in control groups A and B(P＜0.05).Compared with baseline,the systolic blood pressure was significantly reduced in the experimental group and control group B(P＜0.01),but not in control group A(P＞0.05).CONCLUSION The combination of Jujube Kernel Calming Granules and ear acupuncture can alleviate preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing class Ⅲ or Ⅳ major surgery,improve preoperative sleep,and reduce preoperative systolic blood pressure.It has certain clinical value.
