Research on the double-wire pulsed arc welding process of Q460C
This paper addressed the issue of low efficiency and unstable quality of welds in the mining hydraulic support welding, which still used electrode arc welding. It proposed the use of double-wire pulse welding technology for welding.Through four variables such as the gap between the joints, welding heat input, welding speed, and filling method were prepared for Q460C low alloy high-strength steel welding samples, and the microstructure of the post weld samples was observed and compared with the electrode arc welding. The results showed that when the gap between the wires was 1.5 mm,the current of the front and rear wires was 270 A and 240 A,the voltage of the front and rear wires was 28.3 V and 26.1 V,and the welding speed was 0.6 m/min,the backing weld sample was penetrated and well formed.Observing the microstructure of the weld and heat-affected zone,it was found that electrode arc welding presented a widmannstatten characteristic in the weld area, and the heat-affected zone presented a distinct overheated organization characteristic, with obvious point-like carbonitrides at the grain boundary.Double-wire pulse welding,on the other hand, was mainly composed of needle-like ferrite and granular bainite, with good toughness and strength.
