Application of welding sequence and welding direction optimization in pipeline steel welding
To study the influence of welding sequence and welding direction on welding deformation and residual stress in pipeline steel butt welding, different welding assembly sequences with finite element models were designed to simulate the welding deformation and residual stress curves, and the simulation model was verified. The results indicated that the overall trend of welding deformation and residual stress curves was similar.Under the premise that the assembly sequence of the first and second welding processes was fixed, the deformation results of the third welding process, which was both left and right, were greater than those of the left, right and reverse welding processes.Under the premise that the assembly sequence of the third welding was the same, the cosmetic welding first welded the middle weld seam and then welded the welds on both sides, and the welding deformation was relatively small. The welding deformation error was controlled within the range of 5.62%,which met the requirements of engineering construction.Different welding assembly sequences had a certain impact on the distribution of residual stress. The welding sequence of cosmetic welding had a greater impact on residual stress than the welding direction. The welding simulation results could effectively guide the production of pipeline steel for long oil pipelines.
