"Action-oriented"Approach to Spoken Grammar Research
The main purpose of interactive communication is to implement social action in conversation,as it serves as the pivot between moves and activities in spoken language.Social action plays a fundamental role in oral communication,so the research of oral grammar should be conducted under the guidance of an"action-oriented"perspective,with social action as the focal point for interpreting language functions.Based on this research philosophy, this paper establishes a social action system, categorizing it into eight fundamental types:evaluation, emotional expression, interpersonal construction,question-answer,request-offer,negotiation,telling,and reasoning.Furthermore,a hierarchical classification is applied to these eight types at the secondary, tertiary, and quaternary levels.Three paradigms need to be focused on when conducting oral grammar research under the"action-oriented"perspective.They are the resource form and position distribution of action, type ascription and decomposition analysis of action, and package design and dynamic requisition of action.
