The Use of Complex Sentences in News Review Discourse
Argumentative discourse contains different subtypes,and the description and analysis of the grammatical features of these subtypes will help us to understand argumentative discourse more deeply.News review,an argumentative discourse,also has the characteristics of news discourse.This paper intends to explore the use of complex sentences in news review discourse by mainly investigating three issues:1)the structure of news review and the use of complex sentences,2)the style of news review and the use of complex sentences,and 3)the type of news review and the use of complex sentences.The structure of news review has an obvious influence on the use of complex sentences.There are both commonalities and differences in the use of complex sentences between news review and general argumentative discourse.The type of news review has an impact on the use of complex sentences,but the commonality is more important.
