Xu Songming is the earliest pathologist in China.In the 30s and 40s of the 20th century,Xu successively took charge of Peking University,Xi'an Provisional University,Northwest Associated University,Tongji University and Shenyang Medical College.He is one of the important founders of China's early higher education,and is known as"the model of Chinese university presidents".Based on the digital literature resource database of"General Library of Modern Chinese Literature Resources(National Index of Newspapers and Periodicals)"of Shanghai Library,this paper searches with term"Xu Songming",62 news reports about Mr.Xu Songming in Ta Kung Pao are found and sorted out,and the data are statistically analyzed to reveal the annual reporting rules.Combined with the news report materials of Xu Songming in Ta Kung Pao,the paper analyzes the content and reveals the theme of his activities.Combined with this paper,and from the perspective of philology,this paper also preliminarily discusses how to make good use of the documents of Chinese newspapers in the Republic period of China and the technical methods of mining and making full use of such materials.
