As a mirror reflecting the indigenous culture of China,folk language holds significant importance in promoting Chinese culture to the world through the English translation.From the perspective of translator behavior criticism,this study analyzes the English translation of dialects,as well as common sayings including idioms,proverbs,and two-part allegorical sayings in ZanZuo.It finds that translators,Nicky Harman and Liu Jun,adopted the strategy of"push-pull"based on their own translation views.And under the influence of the publishing house,they strove to ensure the accuracy of the source text while making the target text more authentic and comprehensible.Their translator behavior demonstrates the characteristic of"Truth-seeking being the base with Utility-attaining as the aim",which ensures a high quality of English translation.
