In recent years, the problem of heating failure for induction cooker caused by harmonic distortion has occurred from time to time, but the mechanism is unknown. This paper aims at the above problems to discuss the reasons of heating failure for induction cooker from the view of simulation and experimental test.First, the paper builds the control model of induction cooker, analyzing the influence of protection configuration on normal operation of induction cooker, and then, based on the programmable power supply, carries out the induction cooker harmonic adaptability test, verifying that the surge protection action is the direct reason that the induction cooker cannot work normally, and that the transient over-voltage generated by harmonics is the root cause of the surge protection action. The research conclusion has important theoretical value for solving the problem of induction cooker heating failure caused by harmonics.
