The current soil quality evaluation indicators for farm lands in China can be classified into three categories:physical, chemical, biological. However, these indicators have certain limitations, such as insufficient emphasis on biologi-cal indicators, outdated detection methods for some indicators, and lack of integration among these indicators.Based on summarizing these three conventional soil quality evaluation indicators, the paper also focuses on the application of uncon-ventional indicators including the qualitative and quantitative analysis of trace nutrients, heavy metals,microplastics,pes-ticides,as well as the composition of soil microbial communities. It also provides an outlook on the upgrading and devel-opment of soil analysis methods and equipment, research in the field of biosensor technology, and their applications in the evaluation of agricultural soil quality.By summarizing and analyzing the current soil quality evaluation indicators and their development trends in China, the paperprovides reference for the development of farm land soil quality evaluation system in China.
