Zhongxiang City,Hubei Province is rich in geological relics resources.Identifying the status of geological relics resources in the city is a prerequisite for the protection,utilization and management of geological heritage.Based on the investigation and evaluation of geological relics in Zhongxiang City,the types of geological relics are systematically divid-ed,their characteristics are introduced and their geological significance is discussed.The results show that the geological relics in Zhongxiang City can be divided into 3 broad categories,9 categories and 16 subcategories,including 51 geolog-ical relics and 64 geological relics landscape monomers.Among them,the important rock and ore producing areas,strati-graphic sections,rock and soil landforms and water landforms are the key types,and the Yangzha rectorite ore producing areas,Jingxiang phosphate ore producing areas,Yuntaiguan Formation stratigraphic sections,and Huangxiandong-Shuimoping karst landforms are the most representative.The geological relics of Zhongxiang City have important geological significance in petrology,ore deposit and geomorphology.It is suggested to strengthen geological research and develop geological research routes to promote the development of geological tourism.
