Optical Valley Science Island is a planned high-tech industrial area in Wuhan City, and its groundwater health status directly affects the follow-up planning and construction and the health of local residents.Groundwater samples were collected in this area, and the composition characteristics of main components of groundwater were analyzed. The single factor index method and Nemero comprehensive index method were used to evaluate the quality of groundwater, and the USEPA non-carcinogenic health risk assessment model was used to evaluate the health risk of groundwater. The results show that the hydrochemical type of groundwater in the study area is mainly HCO3-Ca(·Mg),which is consistent with the geological background that the lithology of the aquifer is mainly carbonate rock. The Nemero comprehensive index in-dicated that 63.6%of the sites had poor water quality,18.2%of the sites had poor water quality, and the groundwater pollution in the southern area near the Baoxiehou Lake was more obvious. The total non-carcinogenic risk index indicates that if the groundwater is directly used as drinking water,54.5%of the points will have a non-carcinogenic risk to the early childhood population(0-6 years old),and the early childhood should be avoided from drinking local groundwater directly. It is suggested that the disturbance of groundwater should be reduced during the construction in Optics Valley Science Island, and the control of groundwater in the southern area near Baoxiehou Lake should be strengthened.
