Antioxidant Activity of Osmanthus fragrans Extract and Its Protection Effect on t-BHP-Induced Oxidative Damage of HepG2 Cells
We evaluated the antioxidant activities of water extract,95%ethanol extract,n-butanol extract, ethyl acetate extract, and petroleum ether extract from Osmanthus fragrans by DPPH method,ABTS method, and FRAP method. Moreover,we investigated the protective effects of water extract from Osmanthus fragrans on tert-butyl hydroperoxide(t-BHP)-induced oxidative damage of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells HepG2.The results show that the Osmanthus fragrans extracts have certain antioxidant activities, but the an-tioxidant activities of different solvent extracts from Osmanthus fragrans are different. The water extract from Osmanthus fragrans has good biocompatibility with HepG2 cells, which can inhibit the production of 8-hydrox-y-2'-deoxyguanosine(8-OHdG),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)in HepG2 cells in-duced by t-BHP,and also significantly reduce the level of malondialdehyde(MDA).
