Narrative Therapy:On the Changing of Raymond Carver's Short Stories
Raymond Carver always depicts the hard life of blue collar in America in short stories written from 1960s to 1970s.The characters strive for living and always keep silent, not good at communication. Many of them are alcoholics, lose their job and get bankrupt. They could not maintain good relationship with their spouses and children. However, things have changed in Carver's short stories after the late 1970s,when Carver did not drink any more. The characters in the stories try to seek the hope in their lives and build up the relationship with people around them.Narrative therapy has played an important role on this.People tell their stories, identify the problems, and try to find the solution. Then they get the courage to live a better life.
