The Cultivation of National Consciousness in Ideological and Political Education in Foreign Language Courses—Taking"British and American Culture"as an Example
In the context of globalization, foreign language courses are no longer just a vehicle for imparting language skills but should be viewed as a powerful tool to guide students in shaping national consciousness.Taking the"British and American Culture"course as an example, this paper delves into how foreign language courses contribute to cultivating students'national awareness in ideological and political education. The paper advocates the incorporation of modern teaching methods, particularly the use of flipped classrooms,to assist students in better understanding and experiencing British and American cultures, thereby intuitively grasping a sense of national consciousness.Through comparison and reflection with other cultures, students'sensitivity to cultural differences is nurtured, enabling them to deeply comprehend the historical, social, and political factors behind cultural phenomena and ultimately facilitating the profound development of national consciousness. Finally, the paper proposes the establishment of a three-dimensional system with the course as the focal point, teachers as the connecting thread, and school management departments as the overarching support, aiming to comprehensively promote the cultivation of national consciousness.
