This paper investigates the solar analysis and its application on urban buildings based on the ArcGIS platform.Utilizing the tools and functionalities provided by ArcGIS,a comprehensive a-nalysis of solar exposure on urban buildings is conducted,resulting in the generation of solar dis-tribution maps and statistical outcomes.The study reveals the significant importance of solar anal-ysis for urban planning and design,as it aids in evaluating the shading impact of buildings on the surrounding environment and provides a scientific basis for urban design strategies.The feasibility and effectiveness of the solar analysis method based on ArcGIS are validated through practical case studies.
