To expand citizens'orderly participation in politics is an important part of promoting the high-quality devel-opment of democracy in China.Based on the stimulus-organ-response(SOR)theory,a theoretical framework for ana-lyzing the factors influencing rural residents'participation behavior in political election is constructed.Based on the data obtained from the sampling survey in eight counties of Hebei Province, the empirical analysis of the data is car-ried out with statistical analysis tools and methods of hierarchical regression, mediation effect and moderating effect test. The results show that social capital has significant positive effects on political efficacy and participation behavior in political election.Political efficacy partly mediates the influence of social capital on participation behavior in politi-cal election.Subjective socioeconomic status positively moderates the relationship between political efficacy and par-ticipation behavior in political election. With the increase of the rural residents'evaluation of their own socioeconom-ic status, the mediating effect of political efficacy between social capital and participation behavior in political election gets stronger. Therefore, the rural social capital should be cultivated and promoted, the political efficacy of rural resi-dents should be enhanced, and the channels to increase their income should be broadened.
