The impact of urban residents'income growth on consumption carbon emissions is studied and policy sim-ulation is conducted. The consumption patterns of urban residents in different income groups are analyzed and the effects of income growth and transfer payments on residents'consumption carbon emissions are stimulated based on the data of eight major consumption categories of urban and rural residents in 30 provinces(municipalities,autono-mous regions)in China from 1999 to 2020.The result shows that the primary consumption expenditures of urban resi-dents in China are on food and housing.Simulation results indicate that reasonable transfer payments can enhance o-verall consumption levels and alleviate the growth of consumption carbon emissions, particularly in dynamic scenari-os.Given that the income inequality and the consumption carbon emissions are increasing, rational income distribu-tion and transfer payments can improve the overall consumption levels of Chinese residents and mitigate the rapid growth of consumption carbon emissions.
