Zhe(者)is frequently used as a particle in Original Lao Qi Da before it disappears from later literatures.It is generally believed that Zhe(者)is the original character for Zhu(著),and is replaced by Zhu(著).There are differences between Zhe(者)and Zhu(著)in the book,indicating that people at that time used the phonetic differences between them to express different functions,which means that the relation between Zhe(者)and Zhu(著)may not as simple as the substitution.Therefore,further research is needed to understand why the character Zhe(者)was not commonly used in the Ming Dynasty.
