The former site of Cangyi Library is currently located on the west side of the Justice Cultural Square in Xizhou Ancient Town,Dali,Yunnan.It was donated and constructed by Mr.Yan Zizhen from the"Yongchangxiang"business gang of Xizhou in 1939.To commemo-rate this event,the renowned Bai ethnic writer Zhao Jianan from Xizhou specially wrote an in-scription,which is considered a paragon of library inscriptions during the Republic of China period due to its profound insights and excellent literary style.Cangyi Library made indelible contributions to the cultural education of the Xizhou area and the relocation of Central China University during the War of Resistance.From its initial establishment and management by local gentry to its current operation by new-era societal forces,Cangyi Library has ushered in a rejuvenated phase of its existence.
