This paper investigates the true origin of the widely circulated quote,"A university is just a group of buildings gathered around a library.The library is the university."The study begins with the Chinese and English versions of"The Librarian's Book of Quotes"to confirm the original expression of the quote.Subsequently,the author conducted a full-text search of"The Civil War:A Narrative"and found that the quote did not appear in the book,prompting further exploration of the true source of the quote.Through persistent inquiry and cross-platform searches,the correct source of the quote was ultimately located in the JSTOR database.This discovery corrects previous misattributions and emphasizes the importance of the accuracy of original materials and multi-source verification in academic research.
