Genreflecting is an important readers'advisory series in the West.Since the first e-dition was published in 1982,56 books have been published by 2023,forming a comprehen-sive series with flagship Genreflecting edition as the main body and branch editions as supple-ments.This paper systematically studies the Genreflecting series and summarizes three signif-icant contributions:(1)Proposing a readers'advisory concept that respects readers'reading taste as the core.(2)Confirming the recommended format of the reading guide.(3)Presen-ting the golden rule for professional librarians in readers'advisory,which include mastering the methods of reading materials,grasping the skills of spreading the joy of reading,being good at discovering the changes in readers'reading interests,and possessing the ability to car-ry out reading promotion activities.Finally,this paper analyzes the impact of the Genreflect-ing series on Western readers'promotion:making leisure reading the core content of readers promotion;pioneering the compilation of reading promotion reference books;and providing methods and skills for librarians to carry out their work.
