Effect of Polyvinyl Alcohol on the Performance and Pore Structure of Foamed Concrete
The foamed concrete was prepared by using polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)and ordinary portland cement as raw materials. The effect of PVA on the mechanical properties, water absorption, dry density and pore structure of foamed concrete were studied. The results show that the size of the small pore can be reduced significantly and the pore size distribution can be optimized by incorporation of proper amount of PVA.The compressive strength and flexural strength of foamed concrete are improved with the incorporation of proper amount of PVA.The water absorption of the foamed concrete can be reduced by PVA and the dry density of foamed concrete decreases to some extent.
