The biomass of Scotch pine plantations in Saihanba area of Hebei province
In order to understand the growth and biomass of Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris var .mongolica) plantations w hich are important for the management and valuation of the plantations in Saihanba area ,the biomass models of the Scotch pine were developed ,and the biomass and its distribution were studied .The results showed that the optimal biomass mod‐els for different organs of Scotch pine were all CAR model and reached the very significant level :Wtrunk=0 .026 8D2 .643 6 ,Wbranch =0 .061 2D1 .862 7 ,Wleaf =0 .112 4D1 .542 9 ,Wfruit =0.000 04D3 .311 , Wtree=0 .093D2 .342 9 .The Scotch pine plantations in the I site class was higher in average tree biomass than in the II site class ,but lower than that in stand biomass .The Scotch pine plan‐tations in Saibanba area were higher in biomass than most of the Scotch pine plantations in other areas of China .The descending order of biomass ratio in different organs was trunk (50 .87% ~ 80 .66% ) , branch (10.76% ~ 23 .54% ) , leaf (7 .31% ~ 24 .28% ) and fruit (0.34% ~1 .25% ) .The biomass ratios of trunks and fruits increased with the age and DBH , while that of branches and leaves decreased with age and DBH of the plantation .
