Research on the suitability zoning of refined planting of characteristic economic trees——Taking Torreya grandis in Zhuji City as an example
The introduction and expansion of characteristic economic trees had always been of great interest. In order to introduce and expand them more scientifically and reasonably, this study taking Torreya grandis in Zhuji City as an example, conducted research on the suita-bility zoning for planting based on climate, topography, and soil.Meteorological data from 48 meteorological stations in Zhuji City,as well as data on topography, soil, and land use types were used. The research employed principal component analysis, analytic hierarchy process, spatial interpolation methods, and a comprehensive suitability evaluation approach to calculate the spatial distribution of the suitability of T.grandis planting habitats for zon-ing purposes. The results indicated that the suitable planting area for T.grandis in Zhuji City covered 624 km2,accounting for 27%of the total area of Zhuji.Additionally, the mod-erately suitable planting area for T.grandis amounted to 416 km2,representing 18%of Zhuji's total area.Conversely, the unsuitable area for T.grandis cultivation encompassed 1 271 km2,making up 55%of Zhuji's total area. The regions suitable and moderately suit-able for T.grandis planting were primarily located in the western, southern, and eastern parts of Zhuji City, with the main expandable townships being Dongbaihu,Huangshan, and Majian. In contrast, the central basin area of Zhuji City was unsuitable for T.grandis culti-vation.It was evident that soil and topographic factors played a more significant role in limit-ing T.grandis cultivation compared to climatic factors.
