Study on insect resistance of transgenic Populus 107
In order to study the insect resistance of transgenic Populus 107 to the target in-sect,Plagiodera versicolora,as well as the effects on the growth and development of non-target insect,Chaitophorus populeti, and natural enemy insect,Harmonia axyridis.Provi-ding theoretical basis for the ecological safety of transgenic Populus 107,we compared the mortality rate of P.versicolora larvae at each age feeding on transgenic Populus 107 and con-trol,and studied the growth and development of C.populeti between the transgenic Populus 107 group and control group.Meanwhile,we analyzed the growth and development of H.axyridis larvae feeding on P.versicolora and C.populeti on transgenic Populus 107 and con-trol by laboratory experiments. The results showed that the transgenic Populus 107 ex-pressed high insect resistance to the target insect,P.versicolora larvae. There were no sig-nificant differences in the development time and life parameter of C.populeti larvae feeding on the leaves of the transgenic Populus 107 compared with the control. There were no sig-nificant differences in the development time as well as the body length and width of H.axyridis larvae preying on either C.populeti or P.versicolora fed on the transgenic Populus 107 compared with the control. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that the transgenic Populus 107 had no significant effect on the growth and development of the non-target insect C.populeti and the natural enemy insect H.axyridis, and the ecological safety of the trans-genic Populus 107 was high.
