Analysis of the efficacy of caffeine citrate in the treatment of neonatal apnea
Objective To investigate the effect of caffeine citrate in the treatment of neonatal ap-nea and its impact on clinical symptom improvement and short-term prognosis. Methods A total of 108 neonates with apnea admitted to our hospital from May 2019 to May 2021 were selected as the re-search objects.According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 54 cases in each group. The observation group received caffeine citrate treatment, while the control group received aminophylline treatment. The total effective rate of treat-ment,clinical symptom improvement time, and the number of apnea attacks within 3 days after medi-cation were compared between the two groups. The changes in blood gas index[arterial partial pres-sure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2),arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2)]and serum β-endorphin(β-EP)levels before and 3 days after treatment were compared between the two groups. The adverse reactions during treatment were observed in both groups. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the total incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The improve-ment time of consciousness, primitive reflex, and muscle tone in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the number of apnea attacks within 3 days after medication was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).After 3 days of treatment,PaCO2 and serum β-EP levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while PaO2 level was high-er than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Caffeine citrate is effective in the treatment of neonatal apnea. It can effectively improve clinical symptoms, reduce the number of apnea attacks in children, and has few adverse reactions and high medication safety.
