Analysis of the value of ultrasound attenuation coefficient imaging in assessing the degree of fatty degener-ation in simple metabolic-associated fatty liver disease
Objective To explore the application value of ultrasound attenuation coefficient ima-ging(ATI)in assessing the degree of fatty degeneration in simple metabolic-associated fatty liver dis-ease(MAFLD).Methods A total of 161 patients with simple MAFLD(MAFLD group)and 54 healthy individuals(S0 group)who visited the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Tech-nology from December 2021 to June 2022 were selected. All research objects underwent magnetic reso-nance imaging of liver proton density fat fraction(MRI-PDFF)and ultrasound ATI examination. The MAFLD group was divided into three subgroups:S1 group(74 cases),S2 group(40 cases),and S3 group(47 cases)based on the results of MRI-PDFF.The efficacy of ATI in diagnosing liver fatty de-generation of different degrees was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)and linearly weighted Cohen's Kappa coefficient. The intra-class correlation coefficient(ICC)was used to e-valuate the consistency among operators.Results(1)The ATI values were significantly different be-tween groups S0,S1,S2,and S3(P<0.05),and the ATI values increased with the increase in the degree of fatty degeneration.(2)The positive thresholds for ATI values in diagnosing different degrees of liver fatty degeneration determined by the maximum Youden index were:0.635 dB/(cm·MHz)(≥S1 grade),0.725 dB/(cm·MHz)(≥S2 grade),and 0.849 dB/(cm·MHz)(≥S3 grade).(3)ATI and MRI-PDFF examinations showed strong consistency in diagnosing different degrees of liver fatty degeneration, with a weighted Kappa value of 0.866.(4)The consistency of ATI value measure-ments among different operators was good, with an ICC of 0.976.Conclusion ATI examination is con-venient and efficient, and has high application value in classifying the degree of liver fatty degeneration in MAFLD.
