Combined predictive value of PCT and SOFA scores for the prognosis of sepsis patients
Objective To analyze the combined predictive value of serum procalcitonin(PCT)and sequential organ failure score(SOFA)scores for the prognosis of sepsis patients. Methods A total of 162 patients with sepsis admitted to the First People's Hospital of Nanyang City from January 2020 to December 2021 were collected and followed up for 3 months. They were divided into a death group(79 cases)and a survival group(83 cases)based on the outcome.Logistic multiple regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for sepsis patient mortality, and ROC curve analysis was used to evalu-ate the predictive value of PCT combined with SOFA score for the prognosis of sepsis patients. Results Compared with the survival group, the proportion of patients aged ≥ 60 years in the death group in-creased.Body temperature, heart rate, acute physiological and chronic health(APACHE Ⅱ)score,C-reactive protein(CRP)level,SOFA score, serum interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8),interleu-kin-10(IL-10),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and PCT were all elevated in the death group(P<0.05).Further logistic multiple regression analysis showed that elevated PCT and SOFA scores were risk factors for mortality in sepsis patients(P<0.05).PCT and SOFA scores had certain predictive value for the prognosis of sepsis patients, and the combined predictive value of PCT+SOFA score was better than that of each indicator alone(P<0.05).Conclusion Elevated PCT and SOFA scores are risk factors for mortality in sepsis patients, and the combined evaluation of the two has higher predic-tive value for the prognosis of sepsis patients.
