Gallnut-glycyrrhizae gel on local inflammation and Th17/Tregs balance in experimental periodontitis model
Objective To analyze the effect of gallnut-glycyrrhizae gel on regulating the local Th17/Tregs balance in periodontitis and elucidate its significance in periodontal immune regulation and periodontitis treatment. Methods SD rats were randomly divided into a control group,a peri-odontitis group, and an observation group in equal proportions.A pathological model was established using the ligation method. The observation group was intervened with self-made gallnut-glycyrrhizae gel.The gingival bleeding, tooth mobility, and alveolar bone resorption were evaluated in each group. The differences in the ratio of Th17/Tregs and the expression levels of IL-17,IL-10,and TGF-β in gingival tissue and peripheral blood were analyzed. Results Compared with the control group, the periodontitis group showed increased levels of gingival bleeding, tooth mobility, and alve-olar bone resorption, while only tooth mobility increased in the observation group(P<0.05).Com-pared with the control group, the periodontitis group exhibited an increase in the proportion of Th17 and a decrease in Tregs in gingival tissue(P<0.05),which was not observed in the observation group. The periodontitis group had elevated IL-17 and decreased IL-10 and TGF-β levels compared to the control group(P<0.05),while the observation group only showed lower mRNA levels of IL-10 and TGF-β compared to the control group(P<0.05),with no significant differences in the other in-dicators(P>0.05).Conclusion Gallnut-glycyrrhizae gel effectively alleviates gingival bleeding, tooth mobility, alveolar bone resorption, and abnormal Th17 proportion in gingival tissue,demon-strating a therapeutic effect on periodontitis.
