Comparison of nutritional therapy modalities on the prognosis of moderately severe hyperlipidemia-associ-ated acute pancreatitis
Objective To compare the clinical data and prognosis differences of moderately severe hyperlipidemia-associated acute pancreatitis(MSHTAP)patients receiving different nutritional thera-py modalities. Methods A total of 177 MSHTAP patients with complete data who were hospitalized at Erdos Central Hospital from January 2022 to April 2024 were enrolled.Based on abdominal and intes-tinal tolerance, the patients were divided into an oral nutrition group(n=118)and a tube feeding nu-trition group(n=59).Both groups received standardized treatment protocols. The oral nutrition group received early oral enteral nutrition, while the tube feeding nutrition group received enteral nu-trition through a nasojejunal tube or nasogastric tube.Demographic characteristics, changes in labora-tory indicators, clinical symptom relief time, length of hospital stay, hospitalization costs, and com-plication indicators were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The tube feeding nu-trition group had lower albumin(ALB)levels compared to the oral nutrition group. The tube feeding nutrition group also had longer average lengths of hospital stay, longer abdominal pain relief times, and higher incidence rates of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and new-onset diabetes compared to the oral nutrition group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).Conclusion Oral nutrition-al support provides better clinical benefits in the long-term prognosis for MSHTAP patients compared to tube feeding nutrition.
