Clinical observation on the therapeutic effect of manual lymphatic drainage combined with kinesio taping in the treatment of achilles tendon injury
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of manual lymphatic drainage combined with kinesio taping in the treatment of limb swelling and pain after Achilles tendon injury. Methods Sixty patients with Achilles tendon injury admitted to Zhengzhou Central Hospital from October 2021 to De-cember 2023 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group, with 30 patients in each group, based on a random number table. The control group received conventional physiothera-py,while the observation group received comprehensive treatment with manual lymphatic drainage and kinesio taping.Four weeks after treatment, the degree of limb swelling, pain intensity, range of joint motion, quality of life, inflammatory mediators, and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle So-ciety(AOFAS)scores were assessed and compared between the two groups. Results At four weeks post-treatment,the observation group showed better outcomes than the control group in terms of limb swelling, pain scores, range of joint motion, and AOFAS scores(P<0.05).The total quality of life score was also significantly higher in the observation group, and the serum levels of interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)were significantly lower(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of manual lymphatic drainage and kinesio taping in the treatment of Achilles tendon injury can effectively alleviate limb swelling and pain symptoms, promote the rehabilitation of joint function, and improve the quality of life of patients.
