Relationship between electrical impedance spectroscopy parameters and frost hardiness in peach shoot during cold hardening
In the present study,‘Yanhong’[Prunus persica (L.) ‘Yanhong’] and ‘Zhonghuashoutao’ [Prunus persica (L.) ‘Zhonghuashoutao’],showing stronger and weaker cold resistance, respectively, were utilized to study the relationship between electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) parameters and frost hardiness (Semi lethal temperature LT50 was measured by the electrolyte leakage (EL)).The results showed that, the frost hardiness using EIS measurement was more consistent with EL measurement. The correlation of specific extracellular resistance re was the highest for ‘Zhonghuashoutao’,with the correlation coefficients reaching to 0.99,and to 0.980 for ‘Yanhong’,indicating that EIS (re) could be used to measure the frost hardiness in peach stem during cold hardening.Non-frost-exposed parameters and frost hardiness also had higher correlation, and the parameter re is the highest for ‘ Yanhong’ and ‘ Zhonghuashoutao’ with the correlation coefficients reached to-0.92,respectively; while by means of path coefficient analysis, the re was the best parameter assessing frost hardiness in Prunus persica shoots.
