Research Progress on Application of Lactic Acid Bacteria in Aquafeeds
With the promulgation and implementation of the ban on antibiotic usage in aquafeed,the ex-ploration of antibiotic alternatives has become the focus of attention of the domestic aquaculture industry.Lactic acid bacteria(LAB)have attracted much attention as potential antibiotic alternatives,and some strains have been included in the catalogue of feed additives.This paper provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the effects and mechanisms of LAB in improving the growth performance of aquatic animals,enhancing the immunity and antioxidant capacity of aquatic animals,and regulating the intestinal flora of aquatic animals.It is shown that the addition of appropriate amount of LAB in feed can promote the growth rate of aquatic animals,improve the feed conversion efficiency,enhance the innate immune response of the host,and increase the abundance of beneficial bacteria in the host.Meanwhile,it is also pointed out that close attention should be paid to the species and strains of LAB,the amount of additives,and the dura-tion of use in the practical application of LAB.
