Cause Analysis and Prevention Measures for the Capsule Damage in Capsule-type Oil Storage Tanks
The oil storage tank in transformers is of various structures. Some transformers adopt the capsule-type oil stor-age tank. While, the capsules are prone to damage after years of working, which affects the normal operation of the e-quipment.By analyzing the working conditions of the capsules in different states of such transformers, and combining the inspection results of the oil storage tank capsule in the main transformer in a hydropower plant, the basic reasons of the capsule damage are explored. It shows that the damage is mainly caused by the excessive pressure or tension in the con-tacts between the capsule and the connecting rod shaft. Thus,it is necessary to reduce such contacts and to avoid the generation of excessive pressure or tension between these two parts.
