On the Influence of Horizontal Soft Soil Layer on Uneven Settlement of Sluice Chambers
A three-dimensional finite element model of a sluice chamber built on foundation with horizontal soft soil layer is established. The analysis results show that the uneven settlement of the chamber is the most severe under the flood di-version condition. The soft soil layer exacerbates the uneven settlement to a certain extent. If it approaches the end of the cast-in-place piles, the maximum uneven settlement difference may exceed the allowable value. The friction coefficient between the piles and the soil is inversely proportional to the uneven settlement. While the friction coefficient between the chamber bottom plate and the soil has almost no effect on the overall settlement deformation.
