On the Soil and Water Conservation Evaluation and Management Strategies in Qitai County,Xinjiang
Based on the analysis of the types,areas,intensities and regional distribution of the soil and water loss in Qi-tai County,Xinjiang,the current situations of the soil and water conservation in this area are evaluated,including the land use,soil and water loss variation,water resource abundance or scarcity,and surface pollution of drinking water sources.The demand for soil and water conservation is also analyzed.Then,comprehensive,systematic and sustainable management strategies are proposed,including the establishment of management systems,promotion of sustainable agri-cultural technologies,and strengthening of ecological restoration projects.The participation of the whole society is en-couraged to mobilize the enthusiasm of peasants and to work together to achieve the soil and water conservation goals and promote the sustainable development of the county.
