Relationship Between Support and Physical Activity of Parents of Left-behind Children in Rural Areas:A Chain Mediation Model Based on Exercise Motivation and Self-effica-cy of Exercise
Objective The mechanisms by which parental support affects physical activity in children and adolescents and the relation-ship between them are unclear, with the aim of exploring the relationship between parental support, motivation to exercise, and exer-cise self-efficacy on physical activity in left-behind children. Methods The questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics were used to analyze the subjects and the results. Results 1)There is a positive relationship between parental support and the physical activity of rural left-behind children, and has a significant predictive effect on physical activity(β=0.29,p<0.001).2)Exercise motivation and exercise self-efficacy both play a partial mediating role in the influence of parental support on physical activity, and the mediation ef-fect values are 0.035 and 0.119 respectively.3)In the regression analysis model, except for health motivation, appearance motivation, fun motivation, social motivation and health factor, all the other predictor variables significantly predicted physical activity(p<0.05).4)Exercise motivation and exercise self-efficacy play a chain mediation role between parent support and the physical activity of rural left-behind children. The effect value of chain mediation was 0.093,accounting for 21.7%of the total effect. Conclusion 1)Parent support can significantly and positively predict the physical ac-tivity of rural left-behind children.2)Parent support can also indirectly affect the physical activity of rural left-behind children through the intermediary effect of exercise motivation and exer-cise self-efficacy.The mediation effect includes three paths, namely, the individual mediation effect of exercise motivation and exercise self-efficacy and the chain mediation effect of ex-ercise motivation and exercise self-efficacy.
